DIN EN 1570

Lift table trolley in use for order picking

DIN EN 1570-1 is a European standard that describes the safety requirements for lifting tables . The standard mainly relates to the lifting and lowering of goods.

DIN EN 1570 and lifting tables

DIN EN 1570 describes safety requirements for industrial lifting tables with regard to the lifting and/or lowering of goods and operators. It is a supplement to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and applies to lifting tables that do not pass through fixed stops.

By the way : If more than two stops are served, lifting tables may in some cases also be subject to the regulations for lifts - EN 81 or 1570-2/ 1570-3.

Lifting tables are tools for lifting and lowering loads. They are used as lifting floors, lifting platforms or lifting platforms and can be found in various areas of intralogistics . They are often designed as scissor lifting tables .

safety requirements

DIN EN 1570 was published by the CEN (European Standards Committee). DIN EN 1570 provides, among other things, the following safety precautions for lifting tables.

  • Dead man's switch : The lifting table may only be raised or lowered as long as a corresponding button is pressed.
  • Emergency stop : Every lifting table must have an emergency stop switch.
  • A safety contact list must be attached to the underside of each platform of the lifting table. If this comes into contact with the platform, the lowering must be able to be stopped immediately - for example if the foot clearance is not maintained.
  • As soon as people are to step onto the lifting table platform, it must be ensured that the platform is dry and not slippery. Installing a tear plate can help here.
Checkered or teardrop sheets are sheets made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum or similar with a diagonally ribbed structure. In addition to the decoration, this also improves slip resistance.
  • The maximum lifting speed is 115 m/s.
  • Maintenance supports must be used to prevent lowering during service and maintenance work on the lifting table.
  • A pipe rupture safety valve can be used to prevent subsidence caused by broken or leaking pipes or hoses.
  • Pressure relief valves protect the lifting table from overloads.

lifting tables and scissor lift tables/trolleys

Lifting tables have a platform that serves as a base or work surface. They can be raised to heights of 700 mm up to 1.6 m and more. A distinction is made between permanently installed electric lifting tables and mobile lifting table trolleys. Depending on the type, the load capacity is between 100 kg and a maximum of 4 tonnes.

Scissor lift trucks are pedestrian industrial trucks for flat surfaces with a lifting function. They can be used to lift and transport loads. The lifting function is based on two x-shaped scissor beams. There are models with or without an electric drive. The lifting height is usually the same as that of a classic work table of 800 - 900 mm, with a load capacity of up to 1000 kg.

Difference to the lifting table: The scissor lift truck can also be used like a lifting table. While the maximum height of lifting tables is up to 1600 mm, the lifting height of scissor lift trucks is limited to 800 mm.

  • Scissor lift trucks combine the advantages of pallet trucks, mobile lifting tables and mobile lifting platforms.
  • Scissor lift trucks are used to transport palletized goods. They are suitable as a height-adjustable work platform for ergonomic working.
  • They are used in the transport and loading of goods, in shelf stocking, in picking goods or in the transport of goods.

Lift tables and scissor lift table trolleys are used in the commercial sector. They are used to make working at different heights easier and to make the workplace ergonomic. They are also often used for loading processes.
