Remove the lift truck cylinder

Is your hand pallet truck leaking oil from the cylinder? Despite replacing the seals, you were unable to solve the problem? Such a malfunction is often due to a defect in the hydraulics. In order to repair this or replace components if necessary, the cylinder must first be removed. We show you how to do this in our step-by-step instructions :

ImageStep1

1

Jack up the pallet truck. First, pump the pallet truck up to the maximum lifting height. Then place a wooden block in the middle underneath the frame and lower the forks again. By jacking up the tires, the tires are in the air and the pallet truck cylinder is easier to access for removal.

2

Turn the handle 90°. Turn the handle at the end of the drawbar 90° or to the left or right until it stops so that you have free access to the cover caps on the pallet truck rollers.

3

Dismantle the transport rollers. In this step, remove the two large transport rollers from the wheel fork on both sides. They are located underneath the drawbar and the handle. You can find instructions here: Changing the pallet truck rollers .

Dismantle the drawbar. Next, you need to dismantle the drawbar . To do this, pre-tension the spring by pressing the lever handle downwards and then securing it in this position with a screwdriver.

5

Loosen the cylinder head screw. To do this, loosen the cylinder head screw on the frame of the lift truck. This is located directly above the lifting piston and secures the cylinder to the industrial truck.

6

Pull the hydraulics out of the socket. After loosening the cylinder head screw, you can now remove the cylinder head from the socket on the lift truck frame. To do this, carefully pull the cylinder downwards. Then rotate it downwards by pulling it towards you.

7

Loosen the locking ring. Finally, you have to loosen the locking ring underneath the cylinder. It is best to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to help you do this. The cylinder can then be removed from the bracket and repaired or replaced if necessary. On some lift truck models, there is a screw in this place instead of a locking ring.
